Become a Legacy Donor

Legacy donors are contributors who donate $1,500 or more in support of MPEF projects. We deeply appreciate this commitment to quality education.  MPEF works diligently to be good stewards of our donors’ generous contributions, which allow us to support projects that provide rich learning experiences for our students and staff.

While it is impossible to thank Legacy Donors enough, we offer the following benefits as a token of our appreciation:
  • An annual reception honoring major donors
  • Name recognition on donor wall and in annual newsletter
  • Special tours or previews of our completed projects
Thank you for your generosity!

Holiday Teacher Appreciation

Each year we encourage families to make a gift to MPEF in honor of a teacher or administrator as part of their Holidays. MPEF acknowledges these gift through a letter of appreciation to the staff member as well as a holiday gift. What better way to thank a teacher than to let them know they are making a difference and you are providing a donation to MPEF to encourage them and other teachers to continue to seek grants to enhance their classroom.

Corporate Sponsorships

The MPEF mission is important to sustaining and enhancing a vibrant learning community. Additionally, there is a strong correlation between the education of the students in an area’s public-school system and the quality of life in that area. Excellent schools are the foundation for excellent communities.

We continue to seek corporate financial partners to support our Mattawan students and educators.

We would like to recognize and thank the following businesses for being among the first to partner with MPEF in a multi-year commitment.

Student Scholarships

Families, businesses and community groups work closely with MPEF to establish Scholarships for our Mattawan graduating seniors. Scholarship requirements (field of study, trade school, academic record, essay of application, etc.) are established by the sponsors of the scholarship and MPEF helps to administer the scholarship process with students, review of scholarships and awards night. Scholarships are an extraordinary way for our community to encourage our graduates beyond high school as well as show community support of education. Scholarships can be funded annually through MPEF (501c3 tax deduction) or can be established through endowment funding. Scholarships begin at $1,000 per award and have no cap.

Planned Giving

Planned giving is a way to ensure that your financial and estate planning provides resources to those organizations you hold close to your heart. We hope that you will take proactive steps to support Mattawan Consolidated Schools. There are many ways to give:

  • When you plan for your annual taxes, consider an outright gift to MPEF. Your gift can take any form: cash (which may give you a tax savings if you itemize), securities (which won’t impact your current spendable income), or tangible personal property (which may be deducted at fair market value without taxation on the appreciation of the property).
  • When developing your will, make a bequest. Create an enduring memorial by naming the MPEF in your will. You may give a specific amount, a percentage of your estate, or a part of what remains after the proceeds have been used as you designate. It is easy to add a bequest to an existing will through an amendment (known as a codicil).
  • When you develop a trust, arrange for a charitable lead trust. Such a trust can reduce your beneficiaries’ taxable income by first donating a portion of the trust’s income to MPEF.
  • Name MPEF as a beneficiary on a life insurance policy. You may decide to name us for an existing policy or for one that is no longer needed.
  • Your tax professional is best poised to help you determine how your plans can most significantly benefit MPEF while also ensuring the fulfillment of all your wishes for your personal security as well as that of your loved ones. Consult with your tax professional today – and help us secure the future for Mattawan Schools students of tomorrow.
